LAB COMPACT
Herein lies some thoughts and beliefs that form the basis of our lab culture. This document is ever-evolving, and is updated semi-regularly.
1. Be motivated by the science.
2. Be engaged.
3. Give others honest feedback but be kind when doing it.
4. Be professional and respectful.
5. Assume good faith.
6. It’s ok to make mistakes as long as you are honest about them when you realize you’ve made them.
7. The length of one's formal training does not define their capacity to be a scientist.
8. Be involved in your project at all levels.
9. Ask for help when needed and give help when asked (within reason!).
10. Do what you will with your own personal space but leave shared spaces cleaner than you found them.
11. Keep a lab notebook.
12. Think critically about experimental results—both yours and others.
13. If you are having an issue with another lab member (scientific or social) bring it up with Lamia early, before the issue turns into a problem.
14. Remember that science can be hard. But that doesn’t preclude you from having fun while doing it!

The TL;DR: Be a good scientist but more importantly, be a good person.
